Step 5: Your dentist will recommend replacing the extracted tooth. In such cases, your dentist may perform a ridge preservation procedure using a socket graft immediately following a simple tooth extraction. This involves placing bone graft material in the emptied tooth socket to slow down the bone reabsorption process. Finally, to help in the healing process, sutures may be used.

What occurs following a tooth extraction?

Once the treatment is finished, your dentist will cover the extraction site with a piece of gauze and instruct you to apply firm, consistent pressure. By doing so, the bleeding is slowed, and a blood clot might develop. Clotting is a typical part of healing. It encourages healing and lowers the chance of developing dry sockets. Once the bleeding has sufficiently subsided, you can remove the gauze. Throughout the first 24 hours, you may continue to experience minor bleeding.

• For at least two days, refrain from heavy activities. A higher heart rate might result in more postoperative bleeding and pain. Skip the gym for the first 48 to 72 hours. Consult your dentist to determine when it is safe to resume normal activities.
